Nomination Criteria

It is intended that there will be an annual Induction of new members into the Jump Canada Hall of Fame. Nominations for candidates to be considered for acceptance into the Hall of Fame are welcomed and encouraged.

Goals:
1. To identify candidates for consideration and to evaluate nominated candidates in what is seen as an open and fair process.
2. To utilize the nomination process to expand participation beyond the current stakeholders in the sport, to expand our fan base and to create awareness of our discipline’s accomplishments.

Categories:
A number of categories have been established within the Jump Canada Hall of Fame. More categories may be added in the future. It should be noted that the Nomination Committee of the Hall reserves the right to limit the number of categories receiving new inductees in any given year.

The current Categories recognized within the Hall of Fame are as follows:

Category

Attributes

Builder – Individual

An individual who has demonstrated excellence in managerial or executive ability, volunteerism, sportsmanship and character. The candidate’s contributions to the Hunter/Jumper industry and to equestrian sport in general will be considered.

Builder – Organization

An organization, corporation or association that has demonstrated excellence of leadership and commitment. Contributions to the Hunter/Jumper industry and to the equestrian sport in general will be considered.

Pony

The candidate should have demonstrated competitive excellence in and outside Canada.

Hunter

The candidate should have demonstrated competitive excellence in and outside Canada.

Jumper

The candidate should have demonstrated competitive excellence in and outside Canada.

Rider

An individual who has demonstrated excellence through competitive ability, sportsmanship and character. Their contributions to the Hunter/Jumper Industry, to the team or teams, and to equestrian sport in general will be considered. This category is intended to include Hunter, Jumper and Equitation riders. International team riders may only be considered once they have been inactive on the team for a period of four years.

Sponsor

An individual or organization that has demonstrated excellence of leadership and commitment. Their contribution to the Hunter/Jumper industry, to equestrian sport in general, and to the broadening of the community’s appreciation of equestrian sport will be considered.

Media

An individual or organization that has represented excellence of product, leadership and commitment. Contributions to the Hunter/Jumper industry and to equestrian sport in general and to broadening of the community’s appreciation of equestrian sport will be considered.

Official

An individual who has demonstrated excellence of leadership, performance and sportsmanship throughout their career. Contributions to the Hunter/Jumper industry and to equestrian sport in general are to be considered. This category includes, but is not limited to, Course Designers, Stewards, Judges, etc.

Trainer/Coach

An individual or partnership that has demonstrated excellence of leadership, sportsmanship and performance throughout their career. Contributions to the Hunter/Jumper industry and to equestrian sport in general are to be considered.

Team/Event

A Team or Individual accomplishment that singularly represents excellence of achievement.


Eligibility for Election:
ONLY
members of provincial equestrian federations, provincial hunter/jumper associations, Jump Canada or Equine Canada may submit official nominations of candidates for consideration by the Hall of Fame.

Each member may make only one nomination in each category in any nomination year .

Nominations from members shall be invited annually. Nominations must be in writing and must be filed with the Chairman of the Nomination Committee via the Hall of Fame website no later than 12:00 PM EST on May March15th in each year.

Nominations not accepted for Induction may be held by the Nomination C committee for consideration in a future year.

Unless otherwise approved by the Nomination Committee, the Annual Elections Meeting will be held in April of each year and the Annual Induction Ceremony will be held in November of each year.

Nominations shall contain the fullest possible data concerning the record and the merits for each candidate nominated. Supporting documentation is encouraged. Additional sources of data in support of the Nomination are encouraged.


Proceedings Confidential:
The names of persons who are nominated for consideration as Inductees, but who are not elected as such, shall not be disclosed at any time to any person (including those who are nominated) other than among the members of the Nomination/Selection Committee.

No member of the Nomination/Selection Committee or any other person present at the Annual Elections Meeting shall disclose to any person the content of discussions at the meeting nor how any member of the Committee voted.

After the Selection Committee has completed all balloting for the election of Inductees, the Chairman of the Committee or an alternate person designated by the Committee shall then release the names of those elected for general publication.

When a person/organization is elected as an Inductee, the name of such person/organization shall be duly certified by the Chairman of the Committee for official enrolment into Hall of Fame Membership. All necessary actions shall then be taken for induction of such person/organization at the next Annual Induction Ceremony.


Criteria/Policy for Submissions:
Nomination submissions shall contain the fullest possible data concerning the record and the merits of the candidate being put forward for consideration.

General letters of opinion and support will be circulated to the Selection Committee only at the discretion of the Chairman of the Committee or if such letters are contained within a bona-fide submission.

Persons making a submission that includes support materials i.e. bound presentation documents, newspaper clippings, photographs, audio-visual cassettes, etc. will submit two (2) copies of such support materials for circulation to the Selection Committee.

Nomination submissions received after the submission deadline shall be deferred to the next annual nomination and election proceeding.
