Jump Canada Launches Hall of Fame

July 27, 2006 – Toronto, Ontario – The Jump Canada Hall of Fame will be launched on November 5 in a special induction ceremony to be held in Toronto, ON.

Following years of planning, the Jump Canada Hall of Fame will officially be launched to honour outstanding contributions to hunter/jumper sport in Canada. A black-tie gala, including the induction ceremony and dinner, will be held Sunday, November 5, 2006, in the Imperial Ballroom of the Royal York Hotel.

The first honorees inducted into the Jump Canada Hall of Fame will include Ian Millar’s legendary show jumping partner Big Ben, and the members of the Canadian Show Jumping Team - Jim Day, Jim Elder and Tom Gayford, that claimed the Team Gold Medal at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. More recipients will be announced in the coming months.

"It is long overdue that we honour and showcase our 'champions', both past and present," said Mark Samuel, the Past Chair of Jump Canada who is spearheading the project. "Recipients will be recognized for their achievement of excellence and for their contributions to raising the standards in our sport, through safe and ethical competition from grassroots to the international podium. We look forward to honouring the significant individuals, teams, horses, sponsors, officials, media, trainers and builders of our sport."

Tickets for the Jump Canada Hall of Fame induction ceremony are $200 per person and can purchased individually or in tables of eight or ten. Ticket order forms are posted on the Jump Canada website at http://www.jumpcanada.ca/acrobat/JC_Hall_of_Fame_Ticket_Form.pdf.
