Lauren Tisbo first tried riding as a child, taking weekly riding lessons. At age 12, her interest turned more serious when she got her own horse. Throughout high school, Lauren balanced riding with playing competitive soccer but, in the end, it was her love of horses that won out. She began focusing on equestrian sport in her late teens, training and competing in the Chicago area.
Lauren’s intense determination and drive has led her to the upper echelons of the demanding sport of show jumping. Having trained with some of the world’s best during her development, Lauren herself is now a respected competitor at the top level of grand prix. In 2012, Lauren posted several impressive results riding King Kolibri including a fifth place finish in the $500,000 FTI Consulting Grand Prix in Wellington, Florida, and fourth place in the $200,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada. With Crème Brule, Lauren was third in the $175,000 Nexen Cup Derby, also held at Spruce Meadows.
In addition to her current competition mounts, Lauren is developing several young horses that are products of her family’s Tequestrian Farms’ breeding program. Bachelor, the oldest home-bred horse, successfully competed in the six-year-old young jumper divisions in 2012.
Lauren graduated from Lake Forest College in 2006, having majored in communications and double minored in business and sociology/anthropology. Her parents, Tom and Jeannie Tisbo, are extremely supportive of their daughter’s riding career.
