Elizabeth Gingras of Edmonton, Alberta, learned to love horses at an early age thanks to her mother, Patti, an avid equestrian who would often take her young daughter to the farm with her. Having learned to ride at the age of six, Gingras was forced onto the sidelines after breaking her back in 2001. Three years later, in 2004, she returned to show ring and hasn’t stopped since.

Quickly advancing through the ranks, Gingras is now one of Canada’s most promising riders. She has dozens of top ten grand prix finishes earned throughout North America to her credit. In 2013, she earned two major victories, winning the $40,000 Grand Prix during the first week of HITS Culpeper in Virginia aboard Floreen SFN and the $35,000 HEP Open Welcome during the CSI2* Summer Tournament in Palgrave, Ontario, aboard George. Of interest is the fact that George represented Canada under Gingras’s coach, Jill Henselwood, at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

It was 2014 that would mark a turning point in Gingras’s career. She started the season by winning the $50,000 Purina World Cup Grand Prix at CSI2*-W HITS Thermal IV in California riding Floreen SFN. She was then named to her first Canadian Show Jumping Team, making her debut in the Nations’ Cup at CSIO3*-W Bratislava, Slovakia, where she posted double clear rounds with Zilversprings. Upon her return to North America, Gingras scored a top three finish in the $1 Million Zoetis Grand Prix at HITS-on-the-Hudson VIII in Saugerties, New York, with Zilversprings and, for good measure, won both the $33,500 FEI Open Jumper and the $100,000 Spirit of the West Cup at the inaugural CSI3* Royal West Show Jumping Tournament in Calgary, Alberta.

Also a coach, Gingras recently sold her training business, New Heights Equestrian, in order to focus on her own international career. Married to Geoff, Gingras enjoys running and Pilates. Her father, Brian Gingras, is also an important supporter of both his daughter and Canadian show jumping sport, and was recognized in 2012 as the Jump Canada “Owner of the Year”.
