Young professional Caitlin Ziegler is a rising star in the world of show jumping. Hailing from Mequon, Wisconsin, Caitlin excelled as a junior rider in equitation divisions as well as in the hunter ring, training under Cookie Beck. In 2009, she won the title of Grand Junior Hunter Champion at the National Horse Show in New York riding Safari. When she turned her attention to show jumping, there was no holding back.
Despite her young age, Caitlin has already enjoyed victories at several major show jumping events around the world. In 2011, she made a name for herself by riding as a member of the winning team in the Artisan Farms Young Rider Grand Prix Series in Wellington, Florida, and representing the United States internationally in the European Youngster Cup in Leipzig, Germany. Competing in Europe for the first time, Caitlin took top placings in events in Italy and Spain before emerging victorious in the €23,000 Grand Prix Jockey Club Prix at the famous La Baule show jumping tournament in France riding Butragenia. At the conclusion of the tournament, Caitlin was awarded the Leading Rider title in the CSI2* division based on her consistent and impressive performances.
In July of 2011, Caitlin made history at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada, widely considered one of the top show jumping venues in the world. At only 16 years of age, Caitlin bested a field of Olympic veterans to win the $31,000 AON Cup, making her the youngest rider to ever win in the International Ring.
Identified as an exceptionally talented athlete, Caitlin trains full-time with current Olympic Champion, Eric Lamaze. In both 2009 and 2011, Caitlin was awarded a RSA scholarship by Spruce Meadows in recognition of her commitment to the sport. In order to pursue her athletic career at the highest level, Caitlin is based at her family's Artisan Farms in Wellington, Florida, and Vrasene, Belgium. Caitlin's parents, Carlene and Andy Ziegler, are extremely supportive of their daughter's ambitions, and are committed to the continued improvement and promotion of competitive show jumping.
In addition to her busy competition schedule, Caitlin is Co-Chair of the Equestrian Aid Foundation Young Rider Division and also volunteers with other non-profit organizations, including JustWorld International who she represents as a Rider Ambassador. A graduate of Laurel Springs School, Caitlin also enjoys reading, skiing and tennis.
