April 7, 2022 - Ecaussinnes, Belgium - The Auction “Spring Collection” LIVE auction concluded on April 6, 2022, with huge success with a sale turnover of 1.8 million euros and 82% of the lots sold. Under the hammer of auctioneer Frederik de Backer, the top price of the evening went to LOT#11, Rummikub de Muze (Nixon x Codex). The spectacular Five-Year-Old approved stallion went for 475 000 euros to a German buyer in the audience. In second place LOT#20, Kobe R, a Seven-Year-Old KWPN gelding (Zirocco Blue x Canturano I) reached 225 000 euros and was sold to Mexican buyers over the phone. A strong battle was fought for the third top price, LOT#10, the Five-Year-Old gelding Rinus VD Bisschop (For Pleasure x Radco d’Houtveld) who was finally bought by Belgian Olympic rider, Jerome Guery, who partnered with French Olympian Simon Delestre to make the acquisition. The sale had a certain Olympic flair as LOT#18, Mojito HH, the Six-Year-Old mare by Mosito Van Het Hellehof x Pablo Van Berkenbroeck, went to recently retired Canadian Olympic champion Eric Lamaze for 140 000 euros. LOT#21, the Seven-Year-Old mare Pretty Pacolet (Lavillon x Cicero Z), was acquired for French Olympic team champion, Philippe Rozier, by a Swiss owner for 110 000 euros. All five embryos offered were sold in the audience and on-line. The top price of 41 000 euros was reached by LOT#1, Emerald x Kirby de Muze, followed by LOT#4, Cornet du Lys x Candy, for 39 000 euros and the female sexed embryo LOT#5, Chacco-Blue x Elyria Sitte, for 27 000 euros. A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THE WORLD’S BEST BREEDER The first edition of the Auction Breeders Awards was held before the start of the sale. The Auction paid tribute to the best breeders of 2021 during an award ceremony. Baudouin Rémy, RTL commentator and comedian, was the master of ceremony with his unique blend of equestrian knowledge and political humour. Amongst the prestigious guests, Belgian Olympic riders Gregory Wathelet and Niels Bruynseels and European Champion Olivier Philippaerts were on stage to present an award, as well as WBFSH World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses general manager, Nadine Brandtner. Amongst the nine award recipients were Joris de Bradander for his mare Derly Chin de Muze; Damien Haelterman from Haras de Laubry for Cordula de Laubry; and the “godfather of sport horses breeding” Paul Schockemohle, named best breeder of 2021, who made his acceptance speech via video. A special “People’s Choice Award,” determined through social network votes, went to Wim Impens, breeder of Henrick Von Eckermann’s Olympic superstar, King Edward, who was voted favourite Belgian-bred Olympic horse. Christophe Ameeuw concluded, “I am so proud to have here with us tonight in Ecaussinnes some of the best breeders in the world. Belgium a land of breeding, where some of the world’s best sport horses are produced, as we saw in the Olympics in Tokyo.
