Five days of competition, offering more than $200,000 in prize money and awards, will culminate with the $50,000 Grand Prix presented by NationWide Auto Warranty, at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 19, televised by Rogers television. The courses will be designed by none other than two-time Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela, who will arrive in Orangeville straight from the London Olympics after acting as the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Technical Advisor. In addition to presenting the featured event, the $50,000 Grand Prix, title sponsor NationWide Auto Warranty will offer two 2012 Kia Soul vehicles, valued at approximately $22,000 each, to the winners in both the Junior/Amateur and Open Jumper divisions. “We are thrilled to support this event,” said Daryl Masterson, President of NationWide Auto Warranty. “In a unique approach to show jumping sponsorship in North America, we are also proud to award two cars to the winning riders, no leases involved! The winners will drive away in two new vehicles that are theirs to own. And not only are we offering this to the professionals, but also in the junior/amateur division as well.” A full slate of hunter and jumper competition is on the schedule including Friday’s $25,000 Hayes Co. Open Welcome and Saturday’s $10,000 Highland Meadows Modified Grand Prix. Hunter competitors will be showcased in the $5,000 Canadian Hunter Derby Series event on Thursday and the $10,000 Broccoli Hill Hunter Derby on Saturday. The Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments will also be part of the newly launched Young Horse Championship Series. A $2,500 Pony Hunter Classic will also be offered for young competitors. All four grass competition rings - two jumper and two hunter, will be beautifully decorated by Glen Echo Nursery throughout the five-day tournament. Featuring existing infrastructure, including paved parking and permanent washrooms, the 84-acre OAS Event Centre is located minutes from downtown Orangeville and is an ideal venue to host the Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments. Better still, Kubota tractors, courtesy of Stewart’s Equipment of Erin, ON, are back to support and prepare the grounds and help with all the heavy lifting. Hayes Co. will manage the inaugural Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments. Having formerly organized show jumping tournaments in Sutton, Collingwood and Ottawa, the Hayes family is celebrating its 28th year by mounting a new event in their hometown of Orangeville. Two-time Canadian Olympian Jay Hayes, his wife Shawn, and their three daughters, Lauren, Ainsley and Regan, and son-in-law Johan Letimonier, all call Orangeville home. In celebration, a fashion show with a ‘Homecoming’ theme will feature Blackbird jewelry, Joeffer Caoc, and Tristan Canada clothing. Joeffer Caoc clothing will also offer a ‘Trunk Show’ for those interested in purchasing the garments featured. In addition to the competition, spectators can enjoy fabulous vendors, watching a wood carver at work, and local musicians playing in the beer tent, which will feature Union Wines, Mill Street Beer, and Pommies Dry Cider. A special tasting will be held on Thursday with Pommies Dry Cider. Competitors will be treated to a corn roast, with corn generously donated by local Rock Garden Farms. Also appreciated by competitors will be the on-site McKee Pownall veterinarians as well as the Nobleton Feed Mill, and the great gifts from Greenhawk and Omega Alpha. “We are very excited to stage our first show jumping event here in our own hometown,” said Ainsley Hayes, Event Coordinator of Hayes Co. “Everything is shaping up nicely.
