June 20, 2009 – Blainville, Quebec – For the second day in a row, Lee Tubman claimed victory riding De La Rosa at the CDI-W Blainville Summer Classic held June 18-21 at the Blainville Equestrian Park north of Montreal, QC. Having won the Prix St. Georges on Friday, Tubman of Dunnville, ON, and De La Rosa followed up with another top finish, first place in the Intermediaire I. Tubman and the eight-year-old Hannoverian mare, owned by Ducat Developments, outclassed a starting field of 18 entries to earn the winning score of 69.123%. Tubman and De La Rosa have won 11 of the 12 classes they have contested so far this season, placing second on only one occasion. “It was a long and harsh winter for everyone but, for me, it meant a good winter of training,” said Tubman of his success. “The reward is seeing the results in the show ring this year. Not a day goes by that I don’t enjoy riding her.” Two former Young Riders’ competitors followed Tubman into second and third places. Leah Wilson of Orangeville, ON, rode Amusant to a score of 66.754%, while Julie Watchorn of Schomberg, ON, was close behind with 66.579% aboard Quintesse. In the Grand Prix Special, Belinda Trussell rode the nine-year-old Anton to first place, earning a score of 63.833%. In the FEI Young Rider division, Annie-Pier Venne of Charlemagne, QC, riding Step Up narrowly edged out Ottawa’s Brittany Fraser to win the FEI Young Rider Individual test with a score of 65.263%. Fraser earned 64.825% on Ricardos. Alexandra Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON, rode Fling to first place in the FEI Junior Individual test while Tanya Strasser-Shostak of St-Adele, QC, the daughter of Canadian Olympian Evi Strasser, won the FEI Pony Individual test with Nemo Tyme. William, a Canadian-bred horse, won the FEI Five-Year-Old Final on a score of 7.64. A Hannoverian gelding by Warkanson, William is owned by Vickie Argals of Wetaskiwin, AB, and ridden by Lindsay Stroh, also of the Edmonton area. For the second consecutive day, Harma Germs and Whiscalina, won the FEI Six-Year-Old class.
