March 3, 2008 –
Every Monday, beginning March 3, internationally acclaimed Canadian
novelist Tish Cohen returns to her horsey roots with the mischievous
saddle soap, UNBRIDLED, written exclusively for www.barnmice.com, the social community for horse people around the world.
The short-listed Commonwealth Prize nominee, whose first novel, Town House, is being made into a major motion picture, spent years as a dressage rider and hasn't quite gotten the muck off her boots.
"I was born to be a horse. When that didn't work out, I decided I was born to ride grand prix. When that didn't work out, I decided I was born to dish about those who do (insert evil laugh here)."
UNBRIDLED is set in the sumptuous international jumper stable, Highgate Manor, a stable so decadent that five Austrian crystal chandeliers shimmer in the viewing room.
Which begs the question -- who is swinging from them?
Maxim - the wealthy, narcissistic international hunter/jumper star who owns Highgate.
Hillary - Maxim's flaxen-haired goddess of an unappreciated wife.
Blake Gelden - the romantically castrated, manchild of a stable manager hopelessly besotted with Hillary.
Pammie - Blake's assistant. Spends way too much time thinking about how many cinnamon buns are left in the tack room.
Bounder - Pammie's randy mongrel of unknown origins.
The Boarders - Sigh. Don't get us started...
One of the most innovative international online communities to arrive on the equestrian scene, Barnmice.com has fast become a meeting place for riders around the world to share videos, photos and stories from every equine discipline.
In addition to its social community, Barnmice.com hosts Vet Clinic and Healthy Rider specialty channels where experts in veterinary medicine, rider fitness, psychology and nutrition are on hand to answer members’ questions with weekly videos and discussions.
The site was created by Canadian dressage rider Barbara Fogler, who bought her first horse 25 years ago over the objections of her family who insisted that "this phase would never last."
