"With Jump Canada's generous assistance, we have been able to build on the success of the Series in eastern Canada and make it a national program," noted Phil Henning, Chair of the Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series and also Young Horse Chair of Jump Canada. "The steady growth of the Series is thanks to the support our sponsors, coupled with forward-thinking organizations like Jump Canada and the Ontario Hunter/Jumper Association. With the addition of the Seven and Eight-Year-Old Division this year, young horses can now make an educated transition from the Jumper Development Series to the 1.40m divisions. In addition, we are at a point in our development where we have seen graduates of the Jumper Development Series go on to enjoy successful careers in the highest levels of our sport, and it is extremely gratifying to know that our program enabled these horses to be developed right here in Canada."

The purpose of the Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series is to encourage the development of young show jumping talent and to give Canadian breeders additional incentives to breed superior show jumping prospects. Competing on a level playing field, the horses are divided according to age and jump at a level suited to their development. This careful development allows the horses to gain valuable experience and advance to the higher levels of show jumping competition with confidence. The Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series also gives prospective buyers for the hunter and jumper markets an opportunity to view a large group of prospects in a competition setting.

The National Finals of the 2006 Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series will be held on September 22 (Four and Five-Year-Olds), September 23 (Six-Year-Olds) and September 24 (Seven and Eight-Year-Olds) during the CSI-W Tournament of Champions in Palgrave, ON. Qualified horses from the Western Young Horse Championship are invited to attend.
