September 10, 2005 – Cambridge, Ontario – Millisime du Valy was named the Grand Champion at the recent Stallion Inspection performed by the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association (CWBHA) on August 29 at Hogendoorn Farm in Baden, ON.

Owned by Mill Creek Stables of Cambridge, ON, Millisime du Valy is a five-year-old selle francais stallion by Verdi by Narcos II out of a Matador Du Bois dam. In fact, Millisime du Valy is following in the footsteps of his half-brother and another Mill Creek Stables licensed stallion, Kaiser de la Cour by Verdi, who topped the CWHBA Stallion Inspection in 2003.

Millisime du Valy impressed the esteemed inspectors, led by Johan Hamminga of the Netherlands, garnering comments that included, ‘very good jumping horse, adjustable, quick, light, athletic mover and very rideable’. Earning scores of 9 for his scope, technique, bascule, rideablity and gallop, Millisime du Valy earned a total score of 7.66 to be named the Grand Champion. With offspring already on the ground, it is apparent that Millisime du Valy passes his qualities on to his progeny.

Placing third at the Stallion Inspection with a total score of 7.22 was Sancho, also owned by Mill Creek Stables. A five-year-old Oldenburg stallion, Sancho is by Skorpio by the highly regarded Sandro and out of a Continue dam. His impressive show jumping bloodlines earned scores of 9 for scope and 8 for technique, rideability and gallop. Interestingly, Sancho’s sire, Skorpio, is also owned by Mill Creek Stables and continues to be part of its breeding program while still competing at the age of 17 as an equitation horse in the United States. Sancho’s half-brother, Mill Creek Sparky, is a seven-year-old by Skorpio that was recently named the 1.40m Junior/Amateur Champion at the Collingwood Horse Show under Tonya Henning.

Mill Creek Stables also prepared the only other horse to be approved at the Stallion Inspection. Owner Emily Skoggard brought Vandor, by Orame, to Mill Creek Stables two months in order to focus on the Stallion Inspection. With a score of 7.44, Vandor placed second overall and topped the two and three-year-old age group. Vandor was purchased as a weanling for Skoggard by her grandfather, who was present at the stallion inspection.

“Breeding is the heart of Mill Creek Stables, and we are very proud of our results in the Canadian Warmblood Stallion Licensing,” said Phil Henning, owner of Mill Creek Stables. “We are dedicated to producing horses that are destined to reach the top levels of equestrian sport, and quality stallions are imperative to reaching that goal. Not only are these stallions able to make a valuable contribution to our own breeding program, but also to anyone interested in producing quality sport horses here in North America.”

Located less than a one-hour drive southwest of Toronto, Mill Creek Stables is one of Canada’s largest sport horse breeding and sales barns, offering prospects in a variety of disciplines to suit all budgets.
