Thunderbird Show Park starts the season with a grant to grow
Thunderbird Show Park gets the 2010 show jumping season underway next week as construction begins on a new spectator area overlooking the Grand Prix field. Under the federal Marquee Tourism Events Program (MTEP), a Canadian tourism grant of $264,350 has been awarded to the Park to assist them in further development of the world-class equestrian marquee events.

Thunderbird Show Park now has two stops in the FEI 2010 Rolex World Cup season
Thunderbird Show Park will host two FEI World Cup show jumping classes this season - the $55,000 CS12*-W BC Open World Cup Grand Prix on June 5th and the $55,000 CS12*-W Thunderbird Legacy World Cup Grand Prix on August 28th. Both classes provide the opportunity for competitors to take home a share of the purse while also earning points in the FEI North American League.

Fellers Gets A Hat-Trick In High ‘Steaks’ Weekend
Thunderbird Show Park’s international show jumping competition wrapped up this weekend in Langley. As the biggest tournament of the season, it drew riders from across North America with over $150,000 in prize money.

Fellers takes top two spots in $25,000 Tommy Bahama Grand Prix
Riders came dressed in their island best for Friday’s $25,000 Tommy Bahama Grand Prix. Challenging a course by international designer, Peter Holmes, a field of 27 riders was reduced to 11 clear rounds and a very exciting jump-off. Riding fast and leaving out strides, Rich Fellers brought home the win on Flexible and took second place with Kilkenny Rindo.

Thunderbird Show Park’s Horseless Horse Show Raises Money for JustWorld International
There were fences, courses and a lot of competitors, but not a horse to be found in Saturday’s Horseless Horse Show at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC. Children, adults and a number of the Thunderbird staff competed on foot over fences to raise money for JustWorld International and its Honduras Educational Supplies Project.

Fellers and Flexible earn World Cup points in Thunderbird’s Warsteiner Grand Prix
Since the Olympics, awareness of
Canadian equestrian sport is on the rise, giving Langley’s Thunderbird Show Park more opportunity to show off its world-class facility. The Park’s $55,000 Warsteiner World Cup Grand Prix welcomed show jumpers from BC, Alberta, Montana, Washington, Oregon and California. Among the field of 23 competitors were former Canadian Olympian John Anderson and one of the fastest speed teams in the world, Rich Fellers and his mount, Flexible.

John Anderson Takes $32,500 Darnell & Co. Grand Prix
The “Masters” Tournament at Spruce Meadows gets underway starting September 9, 2009, and it appears that Calgary’s John Anderson is ready. Thirty one riders took to the grass for the $32,500 Darnell & Co. Lawyers Grand Prix at Thunderbird Show Park on Friday, August 14. Seven riders advanced to the jump-off, but only three would post double clear rounds and just over a second would separate first from second. In the end it was John Anderson and Terrific who came out on top.

Thunderbird Show Park goes ‘horseless’ for JustWorld International and the children of Honduras
Among the classes at this weekend’s Summer Festival Show Jumping Tournament at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley will be a few that don’t require a horse at all. The Horseless Horse Show and silent auction takes place on Saturday, August 22, at 2 p.m., raising funds for the Honduras Educational Supplies Project through JustWorld International.

Riders faced tough odds in Thunderbird’s $50,000 Grand Prix Olympian, Ali Nilforushan, delivers a world class performance
Of the 29 horse rider combinations to challenge Sunday’s $50,000 CSI2* Thunderbird Show Park Grand Prix held May 31, only two would go clear. The rest would find themselves at odds with many of the jumps on course. In the end, it was California-based Ali Nilforushan who rode to victory on the Darco son, Warco Van De Halhoevre. Washington’s Jennifer Crooks was the first to post a clear round on SF Sadin. Aboard her Belgium Warmblood mare, Jennifer beat the time allowed of 83 seconds to secure a spot in the jump-off.

Gary Brewster and Royal Viali Raise the Bar Tournament ends with a splash at the Keg Steakhouse & Bar Grand Prix
There were more than a few puddles, but a brave field of 23 riders took to the Grand Prix field on Sunday afternoon for the $75,000 Keg Steakhouse & Bar Grand Prix. Local riders, used to the wet weather, owned the day as Richmond’s Gary Brewster beat Langley’s Andrea Strain for the top prize.

Chris Pack Named Vice President, Operations at Thunderbird Show Park
Jane Tidball, President and Tournament Director at Thunderbird Show Park, is pleased to announce that Chris Pack has been promoted to Vice President, Operations at Thunderbird Show Park. Chris has held progressive roles in the equine industry for the past 10 years, including his early beginnings with EMG in Ontario and most recently as Tournament Manager for the past five years at Thunderbird. Chris sits on the Jump Canada Board as FEI Representative, Competitions Committee, and is also a member of the Athlete Development Committee and the Editorial Board of Jump Canada’s official newsletter, ‘The Warm-Up Ring’.
