July 2, 2015 – Langley, British Columbia – Bill Ulmer claimed his second SSG Gloves bonus in a row while local rider Andrea Strain also cashed in during the SSG Gloves “Go Clean for the Green” promotion held June 24 to 28 at the Thunderbird Show Park ‘West Coast Classic’ in Langley, BC.

Having claimed a $1,000 bonus from SSG Gloves following the $3,000 Dexter Associates Realty Canadian Hunter Derby on Saturday, May 30, Ulmer returned to the grass derby field to capture his second straight victory in the SSG Gloves promotion by winning the $5,000 Cobblestone Hunter Derby. Ulmer topped a 43-horse starting field to take the win riding Beach Drive, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by Ulmer’s wife, Susan Lund, for the past four years.

For wearing SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves on his way to victory, Ulmer was awarded a $1,000 bonus in recognition to his loyalty to the Canadian glove manufacturer. That brings his total bonus money won to $2,000 so far this season.

“I think that the promotion is genius,” said Ulmer of Kelowna, BC. “For those who haven’t ridden in SSG ‘Digital’ gloves before, do yourself a favour and try them. You will see that they are a superior glove, and know that the money you spend on them will be well worth it. I like the grip, the fit, and that they are stylish. Your hands don’t sweat in them or bleed in the rain.”

Ulmer added, “I’d like to thank SSG Gloves for their sponsorship and appreciate the support they give to riders.”

Over in the show jumping ring, Andrea Strain of Langley, BC, took top spot in the $15,000 Kubota Canada Grand Prix. Strain emerged victorious riding Djakarta, her 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare. For wearing SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves on her way to victory, Strain was also presented with a $1,000 bonus from SSG Gloves.

“It’s awesome!” said Strain, 37, of the SSG Gloves “Go Clean for the Green” promotion. “They’re great gloves, and the promotion is a great incentive to wear them. They are thin, yet they don’t wear through, they last, and they are ‘grippy’. And if they get dirty, you just throw them in the wash and they come out like brand new.”

Now in its fifth year, SSG Gloves is offering a total of $12,000 in bonus money to both hunter and jumper competitors throughout the 2015 show season at Thunderbird. A $1,000 bonus is on offer to the winner of designated grand prix and hunter events if they are wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style riding gloves. If the winning rider in any designated event is wearing SSG ‘Digitals’ with the horse head logo clearly visible in all rounds of competition, they will be presented with a bonus cheque in front of the SSG signature jump during the awards presentation.

The SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion will continue to be offered at Thunderbird Show Park in the following events:
