February 23, 2014 – Wellington, FL – Alison Cooney claimed victory in the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Classic held February 22 at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. For wearing SSG 'Digital' riding gloves on her way to the win, Cooney also picked up a $1,000 bonus in the SSG Gloves "Go Clean for the Green" promotion in recognition of her loyalty to the SSG brand.

A total of 43 entries took to the International Arena in the hopes of securing the win during week seven of the 12-week FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival. Only five riders produced a clear round to advance to the tie-breaker with Cooney leading the way. A second clear round in a time of 34.31 seconds proved unbeatable, giving Cooney her first career victory in a High Amateur-Owner Classic.

"My trainer told me to go fast but don't go crazy because you want to set the pace and see how the others can handle it," explained Cooney of being the first to return for the jump-off. "I've only ever won one other jumper class in my life, in the Children's jumpers, so this is a huge deal for me!"

Luckily for Cooney, she was also wearing SSG "Digital" gloves on her way to victory to earn a $1,000 bonus from the Canadian riding glove manufacturer. While she didn't buy SSG gloves specifically for the promotion, her loyalty to the brand paid off.

"I've been riding in them for two years and really like them; they are really grippy and good," said the 19-year-old from Chappaqua, New York, of her 'Digital' riding gloves. "I definitely wore them today, knowing there was the bonus."

Her winning mount was Toluca LS, a 10-year-old mare that Cooney purchased last summer from La Silla in Mexico.

"I went down to Mexico to try her at La Silla and fell in love immediately; we bonded from the first time I rode her," said Cooney. "She's super fiery, but also the bravest horse I've ever ridden. She's always ready to go and jump."

While Cooney took the win in the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Classic to claim the $1,000 bonus on offer, Alvaro 'Doda' Miranda earned a $3,000 SSG bonus after wearing SSG 'Digitals' on his way to victory in Thursday's $125,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round VII with AD Uutje.

SSG Gloves will continue to offer a $3,000 bonus in each of the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series events, as well as a $1,000 bonus in the High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic and the High Junior Jumper Classic competitions. If the winning rider in any of these three competitions is wearing SSG 'Digital' style gloves with the SSG horse head logo clearly visible, they will be presented with bonus money during the awards presentation. A total of $60,000 in bonus money is on offer from SSG Gloves at the 2014 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.

SSG 'Digital' riding gloves are available for purchase at numerous Wellington locations, including Tackeria, as well as on-site at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival show grounds at various retailers including Beval Saddlery, Hadfield's, Jods and Running Fox.
