May 28, 2013 – Langley, BC– Kyle King and Bill Ulmer both earned bonus money in the first event of the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion held during Thunderbird Show Park’s 2013 show season.

Now in its third year at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC, Canadian glove manufacturer SSG Gloves is offering a total of $12,000 in bonus money through its ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion to reward both hunter and jumper riders for their loyalty to the SSG brand.

American rider Kyle King was wearing SSG ‘Digitals’ when he emerged the winner of the $25,000 Canadian Premier Grand Prix on Sunday, May 26, following a nine-horse jump-off.  King topped a starting field of 38 entries riding Onyx and, as a result, picked up a $1,000 bonus from Ed James, President of SSG Gloves, who was in attendance for the first event of the season.

“I think the SSG bonus program is a super idea,” said King, who has been partnered with Bradner Hill Farms’ eight-year-old Onyx for the past year.  “Ordinarily I never wear gloves, but with the SSG ‘Digitals’, nothing gets in the way.  They are so light and stick to the reins well.  I would recommend that every rider tries them.”

Bill Ulmer was also the recipient of a $1,000 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digitals’ on his way to victory in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby.  There was little doubt that the SSG bonus would be awarded, given that 24 of the 25 entries were wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style riding gloves.  Ulmer further increased his odds by riding three horses and when he emerged the winner with his 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding Beach Drive, the $1,000 bonus was his, in addition to the $750 in prize money that he picked up for the win.

“I am very impressed and encouraged to see a successful and innovative company giving back to those who love their product,” praised Ulmer of the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion.  “The SSG gloves are the best available.  They are comfortable and effective.  I find SSG gloves provide excellent grip even when it rains.  They are cool in hot weather and never bleed colour on to your hands as some other gloves do.

“As a competitor and coach, I really appreciate the sponsorship of such a great company,” continued Ulmer of Foxwood Farm in B.C.

For 2013, SSG Gloves has increased the bonus money offered in Thunderbird Show Park’s hunter derby competitions from $500 to $1,000.  As in the past, a $1,000 bonus is also on offer to the winner of designated grand prix show jumping classes.  If the winning rider in any designated event is wearing SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves with the horse head logo clearly visible in all rounds of competition, they will be presented with a bonus cheque in front of the SSG signature jump during the awards presentation.

The following events are still to come in the 2013 SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion at Thunderbird Show Park:
