March 25, 2013 – Wellington, Florida – Victoria Colvin of Loxahatchee, FL, claimed a $1,000 bonus in the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion for the second time this season after winning the $10,000 Griffis Residential High Junior Jumper Classic on Saturday, March 23, during week 11 of the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.

From 29 starters, only three jumped clear over the first round course to advance to the tiebreaking jump-off, with Colvin emerging as the winner with the only double clear performance aboard her mount Waminka, owned by Rivers Edge.  Venezuela’s Emanuel Andrade and ZZ Top vh Schaarbroek Z, owned by Hollow Creek Farm, finished second with four faults in the jump-off.  Dana Scott and Nod Hill Farm’s KM Whatever RV were third.

For the win with Waminka, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, Colvin was presented with a $1,000 bonus from SSG Gloves for wearing her SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves with the horsehead logo clearly visible in both rounds of competition.  Colvin, 15, also won the bonus during week seven of FTI WEF competition.  Enjoying a great circuit in the Junior Jumper division, Colvin was thrilled to be awarded the bonus for a second time.

“It is exciting to win the money,” Colvin smiled.  “The gloves are very comfortable and I think it is just great for SSG to be doing this.  I think it is a really good promotion.  They are beautiful gloves and the promotion motivates you to wear them.  When you have an opportunity like this, then everybody is going to want to wear the gloves.  I’m sure it is a great thing for their company.”

Colvin continued, “It definitely makes you want to win the class more.  Now you are going to have to try really hard!”

Saturday was also Colvin’s mother’s birthday and when asked how she would spend her bonus money, Colvin considered her options.

“Maybe I will get a gift for my mom’s birthday, or maybe I will keep it as a down payment for my next grand prix horse,” she said.  “Then again, it will probably just go right to the entries!   No matter what, it is helpful and it is very nice of them to do this.”

While Colvin won the SSG bonus in the High Junior Jumper Classic, the bonus money went unclaimed in the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic.  The $1,000 in bonus money will carry forward to week 12, with $2,000 on offer to the winner of the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Classic on Saturday, March 30, if they are wearing SSG ‘Digital’ gloves.

SSG Riding Gloves offers a $3,000 bonus in each of the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series events, as well as a $1,000 bonus in the Amateur-Owner Jumper High Classic and the Junior Jumper High Classic competitions.  If the winning rider in any of these three competitions is wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style gloves with the SSG horse head logo clearly visible, they will be presented with a cash bonus during the awards presentation.  If not awarded, the bonus money carries forward to the next event in the series.  A total of $60,000 in bonus money is on offer from SSG Riding Gloves at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.

SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves are available for purchase at numerous Wellington locations, including Tackeria, as well as on-site at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival show grounds at various retailers including Beval Saddlery, Hadfield’s Saddlery, Jods and Running Fox.
