March 7, 2013 – Wellington, Florida Christine McCrea won a $6,000 bonus from SSG Riding Gloves for wearing SSG ‘Digitals’ on her way to victory in the $125,000 WEF Challenge Cup Round IX on Thursday, March 7, at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.

A total of 82 horses entered the International Arena with 31 clear rounds produced over the 1.50m course designed by Steve Stephens.  Of those, 28 elected to return for the tie-breaking jump-off.  McCrea raced to a second clear round performance riding Zerly, crossing the timers in 35.10 seconds to knock Nick Skelton, who had stopped the clock at 35.25, out of top spot with Big Star.  None who followed were able to catch McCrea’s time, giving the rider from East Windsor, CT, both the victory and the $6,000 SSG bonus.

“I think it’s great; it’s awesome for the riders,” raved McCrea about the SSG ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion, designed to reward riders for their loyalty to the SSG Riding Gloves brand.  “It’s nice for the horse and rider to win, but it’s really nice for the riders alone to get the bonus.”

McCrea was presented with two cheques totalling $6,000 as week eight’s bonus money had rolled over, having not been claimed in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series.

SSG Riding Gloves offers a $3,000 bonus in each of the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series events, as well as a $1,000 bonus in the Amateur-Owner Jumper High Classic and the Junior Jumper High Classic competitions.  If the winning rider in any of these three competitions is wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style gloves with the SSG horse head logo clearly visible, they will be presented with a cash bonus during the awards presentation.  If not awarded, the bonus money carries forward to the next event in the series.  A total of $60,000 in bonus money is on offer from SSG Riding Gloves at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.

SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves are available for purchase at numerous Wellington locations, including Tackeria, as well as on-site at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival show grounds at various retailers including Running Fox and Beval Saddlery.
