January 15, 2013 – Wellington, Florida Venezuela’s Emanuel Andrade opened the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, by earning two championship titles.

Andrade, 16, captured the Low Junior Jumper Championship title, having won the $1,500 Maria Mendelsohn Low Junior Jumper competition on Saturday, January 12, and placing second in the $10,000 Maria Mendelsohn Low Junior Jumper Classic on Sunday, January 13.  Both finishes came aboard Casanova Junior, a 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by Hollow Creek Farm.

Andrade tied with Michael Hughes for the Medium Junior Jumper Championship aboard Boccaccio, owned by Hollow Creek Farm, after winning the $1,500 Hollow Creek Medium Junior Jumper class on January 12.  Andrade’s trainer, Angel Karolyi, who operates Hollow Creek Farm with business partner Andrea King, was Boccaccio’s former rider, having competed with the 12-year-old grey Belgian Warmblood gelding as part of the Venezuelan team in last year’s $75,000 G&C Farm Nations’ Cup in Wellington, FL.

In addition to his success in the junior division, which also included a ninth place finish in the $10,000 Griffis Group High Junior Jumper Classic riding Walter 61, Andrade proved that he has what it takes to compete against top professionals, placing ninth in the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Jumper Classic held January 12.  Aboard Crossfire 10, an 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Hollow Creek Farm, Andrade put in one of nine clear performances in the first round to advance to the jump-off against some of the best show jumpers in the world, including eventual winner and two-time Olympic Gold medalist McLain Ward.

Other results for Andrade during the first week of competition at the 12-week FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival included taking second and third in the $6,000 1.40m Spy Coast Farm on Wednesday, January 9 with Wilkina Lithya and Costa, respectively.  Andrade also earned seventh and eighth in two of the Adequan Five-Year-Old Jumper classes with Defender J.W.B., and finished second in the $1,500 Adequan Eight-Year-Old Jumper class on Friday, January 11 riding Black Pearl.

With his impressive string of results during the opening week of competition, Andrade is well on his way to repeating his outstanding performance at last year’s Winter Equestrian Festival, where he was named the Future Champions Leading Junior Jumper Rider after capturing six Championship and 12 Reserve Championship titles.

A resident of Caracas, Andrade divides his time between competing in Venezuela and in the United States.  He trains with Karolyi, a member of the Venezuelan gold medal team at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games, and renowned horsewoman King, at Hollow Creek Farms in Aiken, South Carolina.  For more information on Hollow Creek Farm, a large training business focusing on both horses and riders, please visit www.hollowcreekfarms.com.
