November 1, 2012 – Toronto, ON – SSG Riding Gloves has partnered with the Canadian Hunter Derby Series for its championship event, to be held on Tuesday, November 6, at the prestigious Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, ON.

The Canadian glove manufacturer will provide a pair of its popular ‘Digital’ style riding gloves to each of the 17 competitors vying for the title in the $50,000 Canadian Hunter Derby Championships. ‘Digital’ gloves are the choice of 2008 Canadian Olympic Champion Eric Lamaze, who has been sponsored by SSG Riding Gloves for the past three years.

“We’re very excited about this partnership,” said Jeff Brandmaier, a member of the Canadian Hunter Derby Series organizing committee. “It’s wonderful to have their support for the Championships, which is the richest hunter event in Canada. The top hunter riders from across the country will be competing at the Championships, comprised of the $25,000 Hogan’s Inn Hunter Derby and the $25,000 Knightwood Hunter Derby, both being held on Tuesday, November 6. The cumulative high point horse in the two classes will be awarded the Lorna Jean Guthrie Challenge Trophy as the Canadian Hunter Derby Champion.

Competitors qualified for the event based on their standings throughout the season and their overall ranking in the Canadian Hunter Derby Series, which featured 24 competitions held across Canada. The series provides an opportunity for hunter riders to step into the spotlight in a grand prix environment and showcase the high performance capabilities of both horse and rider.
