June 6, 2011 – Bromont, Quebec – The 25th annual Bromont Three Day Event will take place June 9 to 12, 2011, at Bromont Olympic Park in Bromont, Quebec. Representing the highest level of eventing competition offered in Canada, more than 150 athletes will compete for over $30,000 in prize money.

Olympians from around the world will be arriving in Bromont with their horses, hoping to win this year’s Bromont Three Day Event. Canada’s top riders will be in attendance, as will competitors from Australia, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Mexico, the United States, and many other nations.

Often described as the triathalon of equestrian sport, eventing features three separate phases of competition. The opening phase, dressage, will be held in the Bromont Olympic Park’s refurbished stadium on Thursday and Friday. The thrilling and spectator-friendly cross-country phase takes place Saturday, as horses and riders gallop around the course designed by Derek Di Grazia, negotiating natural obstacles at great speed. The Bromont Three Day Event concludes on Sunday with the show jumping phase, which will ultimately determine the overall winners.

The winner of the CCI*** division of the Bromont Three Day Event will be awarded the ‘Todd Sandler Perpetual Trophy,’ commemorating the memory of the aspiring 18-year-old from Dollard des Ormeaux, Québec, who died in a car accident on April 26, 1999, while returning home from the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.

The site of the equestrian events for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, Bromont Olympic Park continues to evolve as a world-class facility, attracting numerous athletes and spectators to the Eastern Townships in Quebec each year.
