August 24, 2010 – Palgrave, Ontario – The best of Canadian show jumping will be showcased during the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament (CSJT) held September 22 to 26, 2010, at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON.

The $100,000 Caledon Cup will be the triple crown of the event, comprised of the $20,000 Aviva Elite Caledon Cup Phase 1 on Thursday, the $30,000 Peel Maryborough Caledon Cup Phase 2 on Saturday, and the grand finale, the $50,000 Caledon Cup Phase 3 on Sunday. Course designer Christa Hiebach of Germany will set the tracks in the grand prix arena throughout the week.

Grand prix horses of the future will be showcased in the Jump Canada Young Horse Series National Finals. A total of $51,000 in prize money will be up for grabs for horses aged five, six, and seven and eight.

The CSJT plays host to the Eastern Regional Finals of the CET Medal for riders aged 21 and under, as well as the $5,000 Eastern Canadian Final of the Jump Canada Talent Squad. The CSJT will also offer the $2,500 1.40m Classic, the $2,500 1.30m Classic, and Hunter Classics for all divisions.

“The Canadian Show Jumping Tournament is the last big event of the outdoor season, and will feature all of the year-end competitions that go along with it,” said show organizer Craig Collins, managing partner of Equestrian Management Group. “We are also continuing to build on the great tradition that began last year, when we transitioned the event into the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament.”

Collins continued, “The most fantastic thing that happened last year was that we were able to deliver $40,000 to the Children’s Wish Foundation. That money came directly from our sport, from the members of the show jumping community who came together to support the cause. Everyone from the Grand Prix riders to the little children riding ponies found a way to make a donation. There could not be a stronger connection between the charity and our event, and we look forward to exceeding that amount in 2010.”

The annual Children’s Wish Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 25, and will feature live and silent auctions, dinner and live music, and an expanded charity casino with a Monte Carlo theme.

Families will find many interactive displays and attractions in the Family Village. Sciensational Sssnakes, Birds of Prey demonstrations, and a Backyard Wildlife Booth where children can make their own ‘toad abode’ to take home for the garden will delight children of all ages. Children can also get busy in the Home Depot Kids Workshop, participate in the Foxbury Farm Horseless Horse Show by jumping kid-sized obstacles, and enjoy face painting.

Education exhibits include the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, where children can meet the dogs in training, as well as the OPP’s D.A.R.E program, which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education and is designed to educate youth about drugs, alcohol, and the influences and pressures involved.
