Vermont Governor Jim Douglas will visit the
Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show in East Dorset, VT, on Sunday,
August 2. Running through to August 9, 2009, the six-week Vermont
Summer Festival is the richest sporting event based on purse in the
state of Vermont, offering more than $750,000 in prize money.
Governor Douglas, who is a regular visitor to the Vermont Summer Festival each summer, will be in attendance for the $30,000 Manchester & The Mountains Grand Prix beginning at 2 p.m. Governor Douglas will present the ribbons and prizes to the horse show’s smallest competitors, the leadline contestants, when their competition is held just prior to the start of the Grand Prix.
Admission to the Vermont Summer Festival on Sunday, August 2, is $7 for adults and $5 for children. All gate receipts are donated to the Friends Foundation for MEMS, benefiting programs in the local Elementary & Middle School (MEMS).
