November 3, 2008 – Québec, Québec – Cavalor Canada has once again expanded its sponsorship of Canadian equestrian athletes by supporting four-in-hand driver Eugèn Hug.

Hug of Roxton Pond, QC, is one of Canada’s top four-in-hand driving competitors. In a sport that sees the driver negotiate a team of four horses through three phases of competition – dressage, marathon and cones, driving requires great skill and exacting precision. As the first Canadian ever invited to participate in the extremely popular Indoor Carriage Racing Derby at the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, Hug did his country proud by winning the event in 2005 and 2007. He will be back at the Royal this year to defend his title.

Having represented Canada at the 2002 World Single Driving Championship in France, Hug hopes to participate with a four-in-hand team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.

“I am quite proud that Cavalor has confidence in me, and this sponsorship opens the door to more possibilities,” said Hug, who operates Centre d’Attelage Hug training facility. “I am currently using several of their products with the driving horses that I train, and I recommend them to my students and others who ask for my advice. Everyone has had good results.”

As driving requires harnesses for all four horses in the various phases of competition, there is a lot of leather equipment that requires constant cleaning and upkeep. After years of searching for a quality product, Hug was impressed by Cavalor’s range of leather care products including Cavalor Premium Leather Shine and Cavalor Premium Leather Soap.

“Eugèn is Canada’s foremost driving competitor and, as anyone who has ever watched four-in-hand driving can attest, the skill and communication between a driver and his four horses is extremely impressive,” said Francis Berger, Cavalor Canada’s Director, Business Development. “We are proud to support Eugèn and his team of four horses as they strive for success.”

Developed in close cooperation with veterinarians and professionals in equestrian sports and breeding, Cavalor products are internationally renowned as top-quality and are used by veterinarian specialists, riders and trainers of some of the world's most famous and successful stables.
