August 15, 2007 – Collingwood, Ontario – Wembley 234 won the Seven and Eight-Year-Old Division in the fourth event of the Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series held August 10 at the Collingwood Horse Show in Collingwood, ON.

As the final challenger in the jump-off in the Seven and Eight-Year-Old Division, Mac Cone guided Wembley 234 to a clear round to win his first Young Horse class of the season. Last year, Wembley 234, an eight-year-old grey Belgian Warmblood gelding by Capital, claimed the Eastern Canadian Championship title for owner Chadburn Holdings.

"I am very pleased with Wembley's development. He's a big, strong, careful individual and he is also a quick study. He's probably the biggest character that we have in the barn as well," said Mark Samuel of Chadburn Holdings. "The Young Horse Development Series is proving to be a great program for testing and benchmarking our young talent."

Taking second place with a double clear round over Rick Smith's course was Winston, an eight-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding by Wellington. Margie Gayford was the rider for owner Wingberry Farms. In third was Sarah Johnstone and Starlet, fresh off their appearance at the North American Young Riders' Championship, while fourth place went to Frankie Chesler-Ortiz riding Triton, a seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Indoctro that is owned by Sher-Al Farms.

In the Six-Year-Old Division, Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON, emerged victorious with Frieda, a Sachsen-Anhaltiner mare by For Future. As the last of four horses to return for the jump-off, Frieda was double clear in a time of 39.91 seconds. Owned by the KMA Group, Frieda was the National Five-Year-Old Champion in 2006.

Martien van der Hoeven took second place riding Vasco da Gama for owner Augustin Walch. A German-bred Hannoverian stallion, Vasco da Gama is by Voltaire, out of Raphaela by the well-known Hannoverian sire, Raphael. Third place went to Michelle Vandal riding the Canadian-bred VDL Upsala H for owner Liam Dumont-Walker.

Robert Sharpe guided Taboo's Charlie Brown to the top of the Five-Year-Old Division for owner Taboo International Inc. A clear round for a score of 50 coupled with a style score of 40.5 put the pair in first place with a total of 90.5 points.

In second place with a score of 89 points was Michelle Vandal riding Lilius for owner Liam Dumont-Walker. Angela Temelini took third place with 86 points riding Capriato for owner Windy Hill Farm.

The results in the Four-Year-Old Division represented a huge victory for Canadian breeding, and W. Charlot Farms in particular, as the top two horses in the standings were both bred in Stratford, ON. For the second time in a row, Rio's Lovestory W was the winner, giving the grey Canadian Warmblood mare by Rio Grande her third victory in four outings in the 2007 Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series. Ridden by Erynn Ballard, Rio's Lovestory W was awarded a score of 50 for her clear round and a style score of 42 for a total score of 92, the highest of the day.

Also bred and owned by Augustin Walch, Futi's Calypso W took second place under Ballard. The grey Canadian Warmblood gelding by Futurist was clear and earned a style score of 39 to finish runner-up with a total score of 89. Frankie Chesler-Ortiz rode Domino van de Zuuthoee to third place for Grande Farms of Orangeville, ON. A perfect jumping round coupled with a style score of 37 points left the pair with a final total of 87 points.

The Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series also gives prospective buyers for the hunter and jumper markets an opportunity to view a large group of prospects in a competition setting.

The 2007 Canadian Young Horse Jumper Development Series includes seven events in Ontario and six in Quebec with the Eastern Canadian Finals taking place September 19-23 at the Tournament of Champions in Palgrave, ON. A total of eight events will be held in Alberta and British Columbia with the Western Canadian Finals taking place August 22-27 at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC.
