June 27, 2005 – Cannes, France – JustWorld International and CSI Cannes partnered for a successful week of fundraising during the annual horse show held June 9-14 in Cannes, France.

A not-for-profit, humanitarian organization founded to prepare and empower students to become leaders and work for social justice by assisting orphans and underprivileged children, JustWorld International often turns to the sport of show jumping to support its fundraising efforts. And one of its strongest supporters is CSI4* Cannes, the well-known horse show in the south of France.

Four JustWorld International Rider Ambassadors competed in Cannes, including Herve Godignon and Oliver Guillon, both of France, Ludo Philippaerts of Belgium, and Philippe Rozier of France. While all four riders enjoyed great success throughout the competition, the most notable result was that of Philippaerts who finished as the runner-up in the Grand Prix of Cannes riding Kira III.

In addition to the results in the competition arena, JustWorld International received unlimited exposure throughout the horse show. The signature JustWorld International fence remained on the field for the duration of the show, and the jump crew were brightly dressed in JustWorld International hats and t-shirts. It is interesting to note that the jump crew was composed of children from ‘Chabraque’, a home for orphaned and abused children that trains them in horse-related occupations.

JustWorld International had an information booth located right inside the main entrance to the show, and autograph signing sessions with Godignon, Guillon, Philippaerts and Rozier proved immensely popular with hundreds of fans lining up to meet their idols.

Announcements were made all week long by horse show announcer Andre Jacques Le Goupil, and a 60-second video clip promoting JustWorld International’s humanitarian efforts, generously prepared by its partner, ‘Jumping Video’, was run on the big screen several times each day.

“I would like to personally thank Francois Bourey and the whole SEPA organizing committee for giving JustWorld International such an overwhelming amount of support,” said Jessica Newman, Executive Director of JustWorld International. “Cannes is a spectacular event and one of my favourite horse shows, and the fact that we were able to promote JustWorld here is a dream come true.”

The Cannes Horse Show, which was expanded to two weeks in 2005 to include classes for junior and amateur competitors, was once again a first-class affair with numerous demonstrations, including performances by the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art from Jerez, Spain, joining the show jumping sport as feature attractions.

JustWorld International Rider Representatives include Angela Covert of Canada, Kevin Babington of Ireland, Christophe Barbeau of Switzerland, Federico Fernandez of Mexico, Marcus Fuchs of Switzerland, Herve Godignon of France, Imke Hofschroer of Germany, Eric Lamaze of Canada, Rutherford Latham of Spain, Olivier Guillon of France, Candice King of the United States, Titi Mills of Honduras, Eric Navet of France, Ludo Philippaerts of Belgium, Ray Texel of the United States, Marilyn Vorpe of Switzerland and Gregory Wathelet of Belgium. Through various initiatives, including donating a portion of their prize money or giving clinics to benefit JustWorld International, riders are able to support the organization’s projects and programs.

Founded in 2002, JustWorld International offers fellowship programs for students from around the globe to learn leadership skills and acquire the tools necessary to make a positive difference in the world. With three project sites located in Cambodia, Honduras and Senegal, students are working for change in a wide variety of environments on behalf of JustWorld International.
