EMG Announces $100,000 World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at Palgrave

May 26, 2005 – Palgrave, Ontario – Equestrian Management Group (EMG) will host a $100,000 World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix on Sunday, August 7, 2005, at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON.

Originally scheduled for Sunday, July 31, as a $50,000 World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix, it will now be held one week later as part of the CSI-W Summer Festival running August 3-7. The event, which enables riders to gain valuable World Cup points in an effort to qualify for the 2006 World Cup Final in Malaysia, boasts the most prize money offered in a World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix on the 2005 Canadian competition calendar.

In addition to the $100,000 Alliance Homes World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix, the CSI-W Summer Festival will also feature a $20,000 Open Welcome on Friday as well as its regularly scheduled events, including Saturday’s $10,000 Modified Grand Prix. A revised schedule for the Equestrian Festival, held July 27-31, will feature special classes for ponies, hunters and junior amateur competitors.

“The Caledon Equestrian Park is very excited to be hosting the richest World Cup Qualifying Grand Prix being held in Canada this year,” noted Craig Collins, Managing Partner of EMG. “Our first two shows of the season saw a record number of entries competing an impressive 12,652 times, and the quality of competition, especially at the upper levels, was well-noted. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the Summer Festival which is sure to feature outstanding show jumping competition.”

The winner of last year’s Alliance Homes Grand Prix was Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON, riding her Dutch Warmblood stallion, Kafka. The two-time Canadian Show Jumping Champion will be back to defend her title, and will face stiff competition from the best show jumping athletes in the country. Olympic Gold Medallist Conrad Homfeld of Bridgehampton, NY, will act as the course designer.

The CSI-W Summer Festival will also hold its traditional Gala Luncheon on Sunday, August 7, with all proceeds going to Jump Canada. Additional Jump Canada fundraising efforts will include the annual modified Nations’ Cup competition that matches top show jumping competitors with amateur riders.
